Nano-Midpoint
Nov. 15th, 2011 10:30 pmSo, today is November 15th which means it marks the midpoint of Nanowrimo. I have ~25,500 words, which is just about perfect. Some people have already finished, which boggles my mind, but I'm telling myself that slow and steady wins the race.
My heroine has to get rescued now. I have no idea how that's going to happen. I hope the second half of the month isn't too much harder than the first!
Oh! And I used the Write or Die website for the first time this week. The 'evil sound' was the song Mmm bop, by Hanson. I laughed, hard.
Then I told my 17 year old step sister about it and she says, "Who's Hanson?"
I'm only 23, I'm not supposed to feel old yet! LOL.

Nano Update!
Nov. 12th, 2011 07:49 pmI made it to 20,000 words today!
I'm on target so far. My plot is moving along, though my cast of characters is growing larger than I originally thought. Also, my main pairing both need some serious character development. They both need to gain some backbone. Right now the secondary characters are doing all the fighting for them, which is unacceptable.
My plot is mostly developing as I go along. I kinda know where I'm headed, but hell if I know how, or if, I'll end up there. For all I know right now this might end somewhere totally different than I think it will.
Despite all the problems with it, I'm enjoying this story, discovering it along the way. Anything can be fixed in editing, so I'm not worried. I just want to win NaNo! So I keep chugging along.

Nano update, day 6
Nov. 6th, 2011 03:52 pmSo it's day six of nanowrimo and I'm still on target with my word count. I made it to ~10,150 words. I feel good about it so far. Last night I came up with an idea to expand the plot, which is really good since I was worried about not having enough plot. I kinda like my bad guy, he's pretty twisted and evil, though I still need to figure out a redeeming quality for him. I'm hopeful that I will be able to finish!
Nano update, and Grimm is lame.
Nov. 2nd, 2011 11:41 pmI met my word count goal for the first two days of nano. I'm at 3,375 words. Tomorrow there is a write in at the library close to my house that I think I'm going to go to. Here's hoping I can keep up the momentum!
Also, anyone else think Grimm is a pretty blatant rip-off of supernatural? I feel like it's way too similar, they should have tried to change it up more. It's even the same time slot. I know which show I'll be watching.
Winchesters FTW!

I'm Doing Nanowrimo!
Oct. 31st, 2011 06:50 pmSo, I decided a couple weeks ago to do Nano. I've already completely discarded my original idea and started plotting a new one. Then yesterday I switched main characters, which doesn't change much, except that it changes EVERYTHING!
So yeah, freaking out a little since I'll be pantsing more than I'd like.
I'll try and post my progress every few days or so. Any advice from my flisters who have done this before?
It starts tomorrow. It starts at midnight!

Calling All Slashers!
Apr. 21st, 2010 04:05 pmHello F-list!
I'm doing a Case Study for my Cases in Gender Studies class and my topic is slash fanfiction. I'd love to include all of your thoughts!
So please, comment and tell me what you think of slash fanfic as an expression of female communication (yes, I know there are guys out there, but we're talking majority here). Why do we read and write slash, what do we get out of it? (minds out of the gutter people.) Do you see it as an oppositional interpretation of the original material? Help me explain and present slash to an audience that has never heard of it before.
I really want to know what you think, anonymous comments are welcome too.

Beta Anyone?
Feb. 21st, 2010 09:43 pmTitle: Let the Future Be Unspoken
Genre: AU, Gen, DARK fic
Pairings or Characters: Castiel, Dean, Sam
Type of beta you'd like: grammar/spelling/canon/continuity
Length: ~8,500
Short Summary: Castiel survived the attack in 5.04 'The End.' What happens to him?
Anyone out there willing to beta this for me? My posting day is March 5th, and I would want it back a couple of days before so that I'd have time to make changes. I'd be really grateful! Though fair warning, no redeeming end, this fic is dark all the way.
New Header!
Feb. 3rd, 2010 06:59 pmHey everybody, I got a new header! Made by my friend
juzumaru630 cause she's awesome like that :)
It combines two of my favorite things, Dune and Dean!
Makes me want to write a Dune/Supernatural crossover. *ponders*
I'm excited! It only took me an hour to figure out how to put it up. *laughs at self*
If you haven't read Dune the picture probably won't make much sense. So go read it, now! It's my favorite book, ever.
In other news I wrote 1,000 words today, and donated blood for the first time yesterday, so I feel pretty good. I got a free t-shirt too, which is great cause, who doesn't love free t-shirts?
Also, Monday was a snow day. Which happens in NC like never, so cool!

I did my first ever meme! I usually avoid them, but this one looked like fun. I took it from

Breakfast Club Post
Nov. 15th, 2008 07:49 pmOkay, I haven't posted in a long time. I've been reading, and doing some lurking, and some commenting, but no posting because I haven't been writing. It's just been a crappy couple of months for me. I got pretty sick, the stay-in-bed-all-weekend-and-not-eat-anything kind of sick. My great-grandmother, who is 97, broke her leg and went to the hospital. She couldn't have surgery because she kept having mini heart-attacks. My Grandmother got an infection, and then had a bad reaction to the antibiotics she was given. My Grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My mom's friend had a double mastectomy, and her cancer didn't go away. My surrogate sister is possibly finding out that her fiance has a gambling problem, and my brother stopped caring about school and is failing some of his classes.
Bad semester so far.
So when I did my homework assignment for my English class this week, and the words flowed really smoothly, I was pretty excited. I thought I did a good job, and it's certainly the best bit of writing I've done in the last few months. I haven't been inspired, but this morning I was. So I'm posting what I wrote for my homework assignment, cause I'm kinda proud of it. We had to write about the movie The Breakfast Club, it was an open-ended assignment, so we could write about whatever we wanted. It's under the cut for those who may be interested in my view of this classic Brat Pack movie.
